What We Do

ElectroCratx is an independent, educational resource for people deciding whether — and how — to bring smart electrical technology into their home. We don't sell any of the products we write about, and we don't accept payment to feature a brand. Every guide is built the same way: we start from manufacturer specification sheets and installation manuals, cross-reference them against publicly available testing programs (ENERGY STAR's connected-thermostat certification data, UL and Intertek safety listings, DOE efficiency guidance), and read the reviews and long-term ownership reports published by other outlets and real owners so we can flag where the marketing claims and the lived experience diverge.

We update every guide as new hardware ships, prices shift, and certification programs change their methodology — 2026 alone brought Matter 1.4 support for solar, battery, and heat-pump devices, which changed how several of the products in these guides talk to each other. Where a claim in one of our guides rests on a specific study or manufacturer disclosure, we say so directly in the text rather than asking you to take our word for it.
